Carlos Yulo, the Filipino world gymnastics champion, added another gold to his growing collection as he ruled his favorite floor exercise in the 55th All-Japan Seniors Championship.

Munehiro Kugiyama, Yulo’s Japanese coach, recalled the momentous performance that was made more significant after the Hanoi Southeast Asian Games quintuple gold medalist won the bronze in vault.

He and the Tokushukai team finished second in the team event.

Kugiyama said Yulo had to skip the other apparatus after hurting a finger during the competition.

In preparation for the World Championships, which take place from October 29 to Nov. 6 in Liverpool, England, Yulo will undergo a rigorous training camp in Japan.

According to Kugiyama, Okada has a finger injury.

In the last year’s World Championships in Kitakyushu, Japan, Yulo grabbed a mint in vault and a silver in the floor exercise. Yulo will be one of the favorites to win in Liverpool.

Carlos Yulo won a gold medal in floor exercises three years ago in Stuttgart, Germany.
